Cryptonomicon
by Neal Stephenson
This list of my favorites is dense with historical novels. . . here's
another one, from an author who usually sticks to science fiction. This
does have the tiniest bit of science fiction to it, but mostly it's
a story of World War II and modern day cryptography people with some
of the greatest, most outlandish characters of all time. This is a dense,
long book, but an incredinly satisfying read.
